I asked my mother this hypothetical question about spit and she did think it was pretty gross but couldn't exactly say why. Well, she said "because the spit leaves your body," which I don't consider a great answer because it doesn't touch anything in this scenario. I guess even if you manage to do this perfectly some particles must spray around. I think that's the gross part.
